I called my mom this morning- Upset about a woman who actually asked me to teach her in my home studio, which I wasn't able to do at the time... that is now making and ripping off the styles of some of my most prized pieces. As I complained- "Can you believe it?" "Why do people do these things?" "How could she ask me and then do this?"
I realized I was wasting my time.
I realized it was going to happen whether it was her or somebody else. Now or later.
I realized that complaining about her only made me more miserable.
Complaining about her gave her power.
Gave her a name.
Gave her a place.
I hung up and turned this song on.
I don't care how goofy, girly, juvenile- this song helps me loosen up, understand that this stuff is happening nonstop to so many people in so many different ways- and realize that the more we talk about it, the more we suffer.
Why would we do that to ourselves?
There are more than enough people out there willing to do that for us, there's no reason we should be adding to it.
I hope today you can take your troubles that are in front of you, and move them behind you.
Draw yourself a physical line, and step over it. Take that cake and throw it in the trash.
Anything that is holding you back from being your best, anything keeping you from your goals, your dreams, your success.... get rid of it. Get over it.
Shake it off.
Because you are worth it.
