These pet memorial vessels began as a simple request from the beard, who wanted a way to carry the ashes of our sweet Indy and Frankie with him wherever he went. He asked for pieces he could tuck into a pack, take into the mountains, bring along on hunts, or hikes, or into the rivers we love to fish.
I showed them to a friend, who asked me if I could do the same for her and her son. Vessels for their beloved, four legged friend, Moe, whom they had just recently lost. She wants to carry hers with his fur and sand from their favorite desert place they all explored together while living on the road. I cannot even imagine how beautiful that will be.
Creating these pieces makes this job and passion feel all the more important. Knowing that what I’m crafting at my bench will be something that will both break and hold the hearts of those that receive them is something I am honored to be asked to do. Creating pieces like these has been high on my list for so many years, but I knew it had to start when the time was right. This is truly work worth doing.
